BritCham is hosting an afternoon tea at Raffles hotel to mark the coronation of King Charles III.
For the majority of us, this will be the first coronation of a UK Monarch that we have witnessed live since the late Queen Elizabeth’s on June 2, 1953.
To celebrate the occasion, BritCham is inviting people to join them for Coronation Afternoon Tea on Saturday May 6, from 4.30pm to 7.30pm at the Raffles Hotel.
Celebrating the Coronation
The event will see revellers served afternoon tea, sandwiches, scones and pastries. There will also be free flow Pimms, red and white Jacobs Creek wines and Hanuman beers.
A coronation is both the symbolic religious ceremony during which a sovereign is crowned and the physical act of placing a crown on a monarch’s head. It formalises the monarch’s role as the head of the Church of England and marks the transfer of their title and powers.
The King and Camilla, the Queen Consort, will travel to Westminster Abbey in the King’s procession, and return to Buckingham Palace in a larger coronation procession. Following that members of the Royal Family will appear on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.
The official coronation logo features a rose, a thistle, a daffodil and a shamrock – emblems from nations across the United Kingdom.
Silent Auction: Commemorative artwork by Cambodian artist Ponleu
Khmer visual artist Ponleu, in association with TRIBE art Cambodia, have donated an original piece of art to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III to raise funds for the British Embassy Benevolent Fund.
The artwork, painted in red, white and blue acrylics on canvas, depicts the lotus, a symbol of love and hope. Showing the love for the new King and hope for a long and prosperous period for all in the United Kingdom.
The Coronation will start at 5pm prompt.
