Preah Vihear Temple
Address:
Preah Vihear Temple, ៦២, Cambodia, Preah Vihear
Description:

One of Cambodia’s most famous but remote temples located on the border with Thailand. Preah Vihear Temple was regularly in the news between 2008 and 2013 due to clashes between Thai and Cambodian troops. For years the temple was heavily guarded, and while now safe and accessible for tourists there is still a military presence and evidence of bunkers around the temple.

Preah Vihear Temple sits on the edge of a 525 metre cliff and on a clear day provides spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2008 which sparked protest from Thailand.

The temple is reached by motorbike or pick-up truck up that will take you up the steep road. You can arrange transport at the visitor centre at the base of the cliff.
