Kampi Rapids

In dry season, bamboo platforms are built over a shallow part of the Mekong river for people to relax in hammocks, eat, drink and take a refreshing dip in the water. Ropes are strung between the platforms so you can hang on against the strong current.
This is a popular spot among locals in Kratie, particularly during the hot dry months and Khmer New Year in April, so expect it to get busy at these times.
When the river rises around June/July the bamboo platforms are washed away only to be rebuilt when it dries again around December each year.
Kampi Rapids is located north of Kratie town near to the Mekong dolphin area.
