The Mekong Tourism Forum (MTF 2023) will be held in Sihanoukville from April 25 to 27. It will be sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism of Cambodia and co-organised by the Mekong Tourism Coordination Office. “Rethinking for Resilience and Digitalization” will be the theme of the forum.

MTF 2023 will discuss how to rethink post-Covid tourism in a collaborative and dynamic sub-region with tourism ministers, leaders, NTOs, NGOs and members of the corporate sector. Around 150 international delegates are expected to attend the Mekong Tourism Forum, which is free for industry professionals.

The conference’s agenda has been structured to cover topics such as jobs gender equality, food, digital transformation, and a more dispersed geographical approach to tourism so that the advantages of the travel industry can be felt outside of the most popular tourist destinations.

“The post-Covid-19 tourism landscape now provides clear opportunities for us to take stock and rethink tourism for the better,” said H.E. Dr. Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism for Cambodia.

“With my tourism colleagues from around the Greater Mekong Subregion we will work hard to ensure that tourism re-establishes itself as an engine to create sustainable prosperity for our citizens. The MTF 2023 agenda has a clear focus and will address those issues.”

Top chef Luu Meng will discuss the difficulties of enhancing local food networks to improve safety and hygiene. A panel discussion on women’s empowerment in the tourism industry in the region will be moderated by  Veronica Mendizabal Jaffre of the ADB.

Participants will have the chance to join a number of local excursions and post-tours on April 27.
