A group of artists have come together to host an art auction in a bid to raise stacks of cash for Epic Arts while strengthening Cambodia’s artist community with Colour in Motion.
Colour in Motion Art Auction
Colour in Motion takes over The Waterside on the riverside in Phnom Penh on Thursday evening, when 11 artists put up three pieces of their work for auction. Under the theme of colour, each artist has chosen a colour to work with, creating three artworks in those hues.
Organised by the Community of Artists, the auction – which is the second of its kind – takes in an evening of entertainment, with three hours of free-flow gourmet canapés from award-winning chef Benoit Le Rioux and free-flow wine, sangria, beer and soft drinks on offer.
Artists on Display
Throughout the evening, the specially-created pieces of work from Mirasol Aguila, Dina Chhan, Sheery Dancona, Anita Keo, Emily Marques, Daro Nout, Carlo Santoro, Nou Sary, Suos Sodavy, Chhim Sothy, and Artur Kazimierz Tomaszeski will go under the hammer.
“As a community of artists, we wanted to come together and do something that means we can also give back to the community,” said co-organiser Emily Marques. “There are some really incredible pieces that are up for auction, meaning people can take something truly special home.”
A percentage of the sales will be donated to Kampot-based Epic Arts, with the remainder being pumped back into the art community. “We really want to bring artists together and be able to support them however we can,” Emily added.
